About
During the Great Depression, musician Woody Guthrie leaves his wife and dust-devastated home to join the westward migration to California.
During the Great Depression, Woody Guthrie (David Carradine) works as a sign painter and plays guitar. He leaves his dust-devastated home and his wife, Mary (Melinda Dillon), to join the westward migration to California in search of work. On the road he travels by train with Slim Snedeger (Ji-Tu Cumbuka) and other hobos. In California he meets singer and union agitator Ozark Bule (Ronny Cox) and finds his populist political voice. The film is adapted from Guthrie's 1943 autobiography of the same title.
