About
A biographical drama about Freddie Mercury and the formation of Queen in 1970, with Rami Malek as Mercury.
Bohemian Rhapsody follows Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the British rock band Queen, from the band's formation in 1970. Farrokh Bulsara works as a baggage handler at Heathrow Airport when he sees the college band Smile perform in a pub. He meets drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May, learns that their singer and bassist Tim Staffell has left, and offers himself as a replacement singer. Rami Malek plays Mercury, with Gwilym Lee as Brian May, Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor and Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon. Lucy Boynton plays Mary Austin, whom Farrokh meets at the Biba boutique and begins dating. The band plays gigs across Britain with Farrokh as singer and John Deacon on bass, before Farrokh changes his name to Freddie Mercury and the group becomes Queen.
