About

In the year 40,000, United Earth sends Barbarella to find scientist Durand Durand and his positronic ray before the weapon can destroy humanity.

In the year 40,000, Barbarella (Jane Fonda), a space traveler and representative of the United Earth government, is called by the President of Earth (Claude Dauphin). Scientist Dr. Durand Durand (Milo O'Shea) has created a positronic ray, a laser-powered weapon, and has gone to the Tau Ceti system; Earth's leaders fear the weapon could cause mass destruction. Because Earth has known peace for a very long time and no longer makes weapons, the president sends Barbarella antique weapons from a museum. She sets out to retrieve Durand and the weapon, but her landing on Tau Ceti's 16th planet goes wrong. Barbarella crash-lands on an ice lake and is overpowered; Mark Hand, the Catchman, rescues her.
