About
In 1935 England, a teenage girl's view of her sister and the housekeeper's son sets off an accusation that alters several lives.
In England in the summer of 1935, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan), the youngest daughter of the wealthy Tallis family, is an aspiring playwright. She tries to stage a piece she has written with her cousin Lola (Juno Temple) and the twin boys Jackson and Pierrot, but the rehearsal does not go as planned.
From a window, Briony watches her older sister Cecilia (Keira Knightley) and Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), the housekeeper's son, during an argument by the garden fountain. She reads more into the scene than it shows. When Robbie asks her to deliver a note of apology to Cecilia, Briony reads it first and is shocked by its contents. Her view of Robbie and Cecilia's relationship leads her to make an accusation that changes several lives.
