Filmmaker Tim Douwsma returns to Gorredijk, where unexplained sky phenomena from 1974 may be part of a larger mystery.
In 1974, the Frisian village of Gorredijk saw strange things in the sky for months. Several people reported objects they could not identify, a local teacher began an investigation, and even Leeuwarden air base became involved. More than fifty years later, many questions remain open. In Are We Alone?, filmmaker and presenter Tim Douwsma returns to the region where he grew up. Looking for witnesses, documents and new clues, he finds that the Gorredijk mystery may be part of a larger story. It becomes a personal search into mystery, consciousness and our place in the universe.
