About
A young Inner Mongolian shepherd who dreams of a BMW tries to build a future by combining traditional herding with smartphones and the internet.
Agaar is a young shepherd in Inner Mongolia. He appears in the film as himself, alongside Narenhuar, Oyontana, Anar and Suuntal, also credited as themselves. Agaar believes traditional herding will not bring him his dream car, a BMW. He learned English online, worked as an entertainer on a cruise ship and travelled around the Caribbean. For him, the grassland offers too little space. After those years at sea, he wants to go back to the region where he was born and keep livestock as his forebears did. He also wants to connect that life to the outside world with a smartphone and the internet, through livestreams and short videos, and he pictures the thousands of likes they might receive.
