About
In 1950s Ratzeburg, teacher Karl Adam turns a group of young outsiders into a rowing eight, facing resistance from established officials.
Ratzeburg at the end of the 1950s: Karl Adam (Oliver Masucci) teaches maths, physics and sport in the small town on the border with the GDR. There he meets a generation of young men without fathers, outsiders and lone fighters. Adam puts them in a rowing eight and uses unconventional training methods. With the team he faces resistance from established officials, while the Cold War and the German division shape the rowers' personal and social conflicts. Felix Kammerer plays Hans 'Ari' Lenk, Svenja Jung plays Ulla Jahn and Leonard Kunz plays Manfred 'Gammel' Rullfs. The team later qualifies for the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.
