About
Jackson Maine, a country-rock singer battling addiction, discovers waitress and songwriter Ally and brings her on stage.
Country-rock singer Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper), who is privately dealing with alcohol and drug addiction, performs a concert and afterwards visits a drag bar. There he sees Ally Campana (Lady Gaga), a waitress and singer-songwriter, take part in a tribute to Édith Piaf. Her performance makes an impression on him, and the two spend the night talking. Ally talks about her failed attempts to build a professional music career and shares lyrics she has written. Jackson invites her to his next show. She agrees, and with his encouragement she joins him on stage to sing "Shallow"; footage filmed by audience members spreads online and helps her career get started. Bobby (Sam Elliott), Jackson's manager and older half-brother, is his main source of support.
