About

A German woman of Kurdish origin tries to live freely despite her family's objections, in Sherry Hormann's film based on Hatun 'Aynur' Sürücü's life.

Sherry Hormann's biographical film is based on the life of Hatun 'Aynur' Sürücü. In Berlin, Aynur, played by Almila Bağrıaçık, wants to lead a free and self-determined life, which meets with resistance from her family. After she ends her arranged marriage to a violent husband and returns to Germany with her son, her relatives regard the separation as a shame for the family. Her brothers, among them Nuri (Rauand Taleb), reject her Western lifestyle, and she is repeatedly threatened and insulted by them. Aynur wants to decide her own life from then on.
