The Hubertusmarkt is one of the oldest and best-known annual markets in Limburg, in the centre of Gulpen, with around 150 market stalls.
The market is held annually around the feast day of Sint Hubertus and dates back to 1544, when Emperor Charles V gave permission for an annual fair.
In earlier times the market had an important economic and social function; farmers and staff made agreements for the coming year.
Later it grew into a festive meeting day, where the first bock beer of the season also played a role.
At and around Cittaslowplein there is attention for quality, regional products, local identity and quiet enjoyment.
