Questions about comedy and Kabarett
What is Kabarett?
Kabarett is a stage tradition with a long history in Germany: a full-length programme by a Kabarett artist or an ensemble, with texts, satire and often songs or piano, usually with a political edge.
What is the difference between Kabarett and comedy?
A Kabarett programme usually stands for a point of view, often satire and politics. Stand-up lives on punchlines, everyday life and the personal. The lines are blurred and many stages show both.
What is a satirical year in review?
In December Kabarett artists look back on the year: satirical, political and with plenty of punchlines. Many stages have evenings of their own for it, in Leipzig, Dresden and Essen for example.
